Monkey Forest

Adjacent to ECOPARK is the "Monkey Jungle" , a project created by the Living Rainforest Foundation. The monkeys, in the Monkey Jungle at Ecopark, rescued by IBAMA (Brazilian Government Enviromental Agency) from areas of Brazil that have been flooded or burned, as a result of development, are part of a rehabilitation project. Many of the monkeys are orphans and all on arrival, recieve veterinary treatment and time to acclimatize to their new home, before being released into the wild. Except for a few very young or sick monkeys, which are kept in an infirmary, the animals are free to roam the forest. The regular feeding keep them around. The monkeys are fed twice a day -always 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. - when it's possible for the visitors to watch them.

Species of monkeys found in the "Monkey Jungle":

Spider Monkey, Wooly monkey, Squirrel monkey, Capuchin monkey
