This lodge lies directly by the Transpantaneira, the main road through the Pantanal. The property comprises 22,000 hectares of savannah landscape with small jungle parts. In some distance from the main building there are two "retiros" (shelters), from which one can observe the animals all around it. The main attraction is an 800-m trail that leads through a gallery forest on a wooden bridge to a look-out tower. From here you get a beautiful view over the vast plains of the Pantanal.
This lodge can be booked in combination with a 3-night package or for other tours (see tour programmes), but it can also be integrated into any other package, according to your specifications.
FacilityThe Araras-Eco Lodge is furnished in a local, rustic style. It has 19 rooms with air conditioning, a ceiling fan, fly screens, a private bathroom and a patio with hammocks. There is also a gift shop and a buffet restaurant, a bar and a swimming pool with a roofed open-air restaurant.
Programme4 days/3 nights
1st day - Cuiabá - PantanalDrive from the airport in Cuiabá to Poconé. Depending on arrival time you have lunch with a typically Brazilian family there. After lunch drive to the Araras-Eco Lodge (30 km). After check-in you take a walk to the look-out towers (20 and 25 m high). From here you have a magnificent view over the nature of the Pantanal. The rest of the afternoon is free. Next to the the Araras-Eco Lodge there is a so-called lanchonete (diner). We recommend a pastel (puff pastry filled with beef or cheese). Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge. Upon request there will be a nighttime safari to track nocturnal animals offered after dinner.2nd day - PantanalBefore breakfast you go on a walk to get to know the surroundings of the lodge. In the afternoon you take a ride on sturdy horses typical of the Pantanal through the vegetation of the Araras-Eco Lodge's private reservation. After dinner you go on a nighttime safari to track nocturnal animals.3rd day - PantanalAfter breakfast drive in a "safari truck" to the river Corichao, about 4,5 km from the lodge. You take a canoe trip and paddle yourself. Without engine noises, this is the best way to watch the fauna. Lunch on the neighbouring farm. After a "siesta" you drive out in the safari truck for more wildlife watching. The rest of the evening is free. Overnight stay at the lodge.4th day - Pantanal / CuiabáYou take a walk at sunrise and after breakfast leave for Cuiabá (airport) or Chapada for additional programme.
