This pousada is located directly by the Transpantaneira (milestone 10, then another 7 km of private road). It has 20 rooms in total, with 2, 3 or 4 beds each, every room with a bathroom (shower/toilet), a fan, air conditioning, a TV and a minibar. This accommodation also has a souvenir shop, a very nice restaurant (buffet) and a swimming pool; free internet access at the restaurant.

One of the best accommodations in the Pantanal is the Pousada Curicaca. It lies in the midst of untouched nature, in a beautiful gallery forest registered as a natural reserve. This lodge has 20 very simple, nice and clean rooms; these are rustically furnished and have a fan and a bathroom/shower. This place is a paradise for bird lovers, but many mammal species can be discovered here as well (tapirs, anteaters, swamp deer, caimans, capibaras, etc.).

A former fazenda; the current owners promote an ecologically sound, gentle tourism and offer 22 generously-sized and clean rooms, among them 1 suite for up to two persons with a hot tub, a minibar and a TV. In the surroundings of the pousada one can go on some nice horseback-riding tours. Primarily, however, it is better suited for relaxation than for observing animals.

This rustic-style lodge is located by milestone 30 of the Transpantaneira. There are 19 rooms available here, all of them with air conditioning, a ceiling fan, fly screens, a bathroom and a patio with hammocks. The restaurant offers buffets with regional cooking. A bar and a swimming pool with a roofed outdoor restaurant complete the individual configuration. There is also a look-out tower here, from which you have a beautiful view over the Pantanal.

There are 20 rooms available here, all of them clean and plainly furnished, with a fan or air conditioning and a bathroom/shower. There is also a restaurant. In the vicinity of this pousada there are many mammal species to watch, but also quite a few bird species (hyacinth macaws in particular).

This is a very simple former fazenda located in the midst of the Pantanal, only a few metres from the Transpantaneira, directly by the river Rio Clarinho. This lodge is best suited for campers who are prepared to do without any luxury. Here, too, there is a very nice look-out tower.

This former fazenda is located directly by the Rio Pixaim and measures 2500 hectares. The surroundings of the Santa Tereza are still completely natural. In total, there are 10 rooms available here, with 1-4 beds each. All rooms are tiled and clean, with a fan, air conditioning, fly screens on the windows and a bathroom. Very nice boat and horseback-riding tours are possible, and lots of bird and mammal species can be found here.

Comfortable hotel complex by the Rio Pixaim, directly by the Transpantaneira (milestone 65). On our tours, however, we only use this hotel for overnight stays when several lodges are closed during the rainy season. 35 generously furnished rooms with a bathroom/shower, air conditioning, a fan and a minibar. A very nice and clean swimming pool, a bar, a billiard table, a ping-pong table and a restaurant belong to the facility.

Our recommendation for all Pantanal travellers who are looking for the extraordinary. In the vicinity of this fazenda there lives a huge population of hyacinth macaws, a natural spectacle that you should definitely not miss. No overnight stay, only bookable as an optional extra trip on almost every tour.

Beautiful accommodation situated by the Rio Piquiri, a paradise for nature lovers. Here you have the best opportunity for boat trips in order to watch jaguars. The Pousada Piquiri is usually reached via airplane. 4 rooms with several beds, incl. air conditioning and a bathroom.

The Hotel Porto Jofre is the most convenient hotel in the Pantanal and is located in Porto Jofre, where the Transpantaneira ends; it is only opened from March to October. Primarily, this is a starting point for boat tours (to watch jaguars or the Victoria water lilies, which are exclusive to this region). Very good service and quality, excellent cooking, daily maid service (room cleaning and fresh towels).

This fazenda is an El Dorado for bird lovers, but there are also many mammal species to be seen here. 7 cosy rooms, simple but clean, with a bathroom/shower and a fan (no air conditioning). Let your kind hosts spoil you, savour the good food and enjoy the beautiful scenery, far from civilisation.

The Pousada Baguari lies about 122 from Cuiabá, between the lakes of Sia Mariana and Chacorore, in one of the most beautiful areas in the Pantanal. 16 rooms with air conditioning, minibar, satellite phone and internet access; however: very expensive, bad service.

The Pousada Rio do Mutum was built with special consideration for the interests of ecotourism - far from the famous Transpantaneira. It has 22 rooms (bungalows) with a patio, air conditioning, bathroom/toilet. There is a swimming pool, excellent local cooking in the in-house restaurant and an international phone connection. Its notoriety and the high demand, however, make it a very expensive accommodation. It is less suited for mammal observation than for bird watching.

Convenient hotel complex located directly by the Rio Cuiabá (45 km from Poconé) in a natural reserve near Porto Cercado. All rooms and suites have a fan, air conditioning, a minibar, a telephone and TV, as well as a bathroom (shower/toilet). There is also an air-conditioned restaurant/bar, a cinema, a billiard room, video games, a playground for kids, playing rooms, an auditorium, a souvenir shop and of course three swimming pools with a bar. This facility is primarily for recreation and not so much suited for animal observation.

The Hotel Skala is the best hotel in the downtown area of Poconé. It has very simple but clean rooms, and an air-conditioned restaurant. If you have a reservation you can enjoy excellent fish from the region. Apart from that, the restaurant is only open to guests for breakfast.

This beautiful facility lies 290 km north of Cuiabá, in the Amazon region next to the Rio Claro. All 8 rooms are equipped with a ceiling fan, a TV and a refrigerator. Each room also has a patio with a hammock. You are surrounded by 1000 hectares of rainforest.

The Cristalino lodge is situated in a "privileged" location: it is surrounded by the Cristalino national park, which makes up the border to the national "Cachimbó" reserve (measuring over than 2,3 million hectares). The lodge itself is a private natural reserve. It is ideal for bird enthusiasts and has an excellent infrastructure, as well as numerous ecological activities. It is mostly frequented by bird watchers from all over the world.

This small pousada is located near Bom Jardim (district of Nobres), in a beautiful environment. It has 5 simple, clean rooms, all with air conditioning and a bathroom. You have a wonderful view over the plain from here. This lodge is the starting point for many trips to the Gruta Azul (for snorkelling etc.), but also to the Lagoa das Araras, which is always an unforgettable experience.
