Tour 7: Three ecosystems in one tourChapada dos Guimarăes - Amazon region - Pantanal8 days/7 nights, only from March to December, 2-person minimum   1st day: Cuiabá - Chapada dos GuimarăesPickup at the airport in Cuiabá by our travel guide, then drive of ca. 70 km to Chapada dos Guimarăes on asphalt roads. Here you spend a night at the Hotel Turismo or at the Pousada do Parque, whichever one you choose.In the afternoon (depending on arrival time) visit to the national park. During the walk through the highlands you get the opportunity to take a bath under one of the many waterfalls.
2nd day: Chapada dos Guimarăes - Amazon rainforest
After breakfast on the next day trip to the Centro Geodesico. This unique spot is located at the exact centre of South America. You can see for more than 100 km from here when the view is good. We visit the small town of Chapada dos Guimarăes, where lunch awaits us at a local restaurant. Many people from Cuiabá have their weekend cottages here. This makes it a very busy place on weekends.After lunch drive of 300 km to the northern part of the Amazon rainforest. Lunch at a local restaurant. Check-in at the Jardim d' Amazônia lodge and welcoming drinks by the pool. After dinner you listen to the noises of the rainforest on the nearby lake. Overnight stay. 3rd day: Amazon rain forestAfter breafast hike along the "Angelim" trail to observe wild animals. Lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon you swim and snorkel in natural spring water, which is home to many regional fish. You savour the sunset in the "Arara lagoon". Dinner and overnight stay.
4th day: Amazon rain forestAfter breakfast you go deep into the jungle! You get to know the flora and fauna of the rainforest here and watch animals such as tapirs and many different bird species. The tour continues with a boat trip on Rio Claro and later you go for a swim on the beach of Palmeira. Afterwards picnic and rest in a hammock. After lunch you go on a canoe tour on Rio Claro with its many different wild animals. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
5th day: Amazon rainforest – Pantanal (Pousada Rio Claro)Breakfast and departure to the Pantanal, a drive of 420 km (310 of which are on asphalt roads and 110 on non-asphalt roads). Upon arrival in Poconé you have dinner with a typically Brazilian family and savour the indigenous cuisine of the Mato Grosso (depending on arrival time). Afterwards drive to the first accommodation, the Pousada Rio Claro (approximately 45 km) on the Transpantaneira, including several stops to watch the flora and fauna along the Transpantaneira. Arrival at the Pousada Rio Claro, situated 3 km from the Transpantaneira on the shore of Rio Claro.In the late afternoon you take a boat tour to track down various bird species and howler monkeys. After dinner nighttime safari with torches and flashlights to watch nocturnal animals.
6th day: Pousada Rio Claro – Fazenda Santa TerezaAt around 6 am you start out on a hike to watch the sun rising. After breakfast drive on the Transpantaneira and a private road which is about 3 km long to the Fazenda Santa Tereza, located by the river Pixaim. In the afternoon you can try your luck fishing piranhas on the river; your chances of seeing free-living giant otters are best here. On request you can go on another tour after dinner to track nocturnal animals.7th day: Fazenda Santa Tereza – Curicaca lodgeBefore breakfast canoe tour on Rio Pixaim to watch the awakening of the diverse birds and other animal species. After breakfast drive to the Curicaca lodge (about half an hour's drive), an accommodation that is very different to the rest of the lodges along the Transpantaneira: the whole property is dedicated only to wildlife preservation, with no cattle breeding at all, and the complete preservation of the native forest. This place is a paradise for birdlovers. You go on an excursion in the nearby gallery forest or on a canoe tour on the small Rio Nova. After dinner nighttime safari in the vicinity of the lodge.
8th day: Pantanal – CuiabáYou take a short hike before sunrise to watch the local flora and fauna. After lunch transfer to Cuiabá airport or to your booked hotel in Cuiabá. On request additional days and tours to Nobres, Chapada dos Guimarăes or more time in the Pantanal are possible.
