In order to know the culture of a people, one of the best things you can do is to know their markets. So we will visit the colorful and typical “Feira de São Joaquim” (São Joaquim fair), in the “Água de Meninos” neighborhood. In this large market, you can find ceramic and wicker handicrafts, vegetables, fruits, meat, herbs, leather items, images of candomblé gods and goddesses and a lot more. Prices are very reasonable. After that, we will visit “Bairro da Liberdade”, one of the largest neighborhoods in the city, one of the most crowded neighborhoods in the world, and certainly the one that gathers the largest number of African-Brazilian people in Bahia. In this neighborhood the famous “Bloco Afro Ilê Aiê” gathers thousands of tourists to watch their rehearsals. Our popular tour ends with a visit to “Creche Béu Machado”, one of the most important social projects in the city, which is supported with donations and is maintained by several volunteers. Some 250 needy children, from 01 to 07 years old, spend the day studying and playing. The highlight of this tour is to interact with the popular culture of Salvador! You can’t miss it!
