Chapada dos Guimarães

The city Chapada is appropriate for about 70 km north of Cuiabá and has about 16,000 inhabitants. Chapada dos Guimarães is a mountains on 800 m height. Ravines, board mountains, caves, rivers and waterfalls are part of this impressing landscape. The Véu there Noiva véu-da-Noiva-Waterfall is with nearly 80 meters the largest waterfall. An attraction is also the lookout point Mirante, of where one has a beautiful view over the landscape.

Mirante is at the same time the geographical center of South America. In the recreation area of Salgadeira several rivers flow together, small waterfalls form basins, in which one can take a bath. To the vegetation belong the Jacaranda tree, multicolor Orchideen and lilies. For further colours in the landscape pepperbirds and Aras provide. On the way to the place Chapada dos Guimarães one comes past at the portal do lnferno (gate of hell), whose abyss is 100 meters deep. The rock formations remind on American of Canyon.

In the nice place Santa Anna dos Sacramentos, a 200 years old chapel, the last monument in the region is located from the time of the baroque. Been because of one point, which lies far away from the Atlantic and Pacific oceans equally, the region was crossed by the Paleo Indians during its migration by South America.

Very well-known archaeological finds occupy this. From these most majestic rock arrangements the sources of the different rivers come of. Over many waterfalls in the mountain landscapes.
